TRU Year Ends (and Beginnings)

Congratulations to the TRU members who have had professional milestones in 2019. Before rushing forward into 2020, we want to take a moment to celebrate these successes.

At the end of the 2018-19 school year, Kristen Bos won the TA Teaching Excellence Award, which recognizes teaching assistants who have made outstanding contributions to the classroom and made an overwhelmingly positive impact on the students they teach.

Patrick Keilty was awarded tenure by the Faculty of Information at University of Toronto in summer 2019 and is now an Associate Professor in the iSchool.

Kira Lussier was awarded Critical Management Studies Division’s 2019 Best Critical Management Learning and Education Paper at the CMSD’s annual conference, for the paper: “Motives, Managers, and Maslow: The Hierarchy of Needs in American Management, 1960-1985.” A version of the paper was also published in Journal of the History of the Behavioural Sciences, which you can access here.

Michelle Murphy won the 2019 Ludwick Fleck Prize for her book The Economization of Life, published through Duke University Press. This is the second time she has received the prestigious prize that recognizes excellent research in Science and Technology Studies.

We’re confident 2020 will bring more reasons for celebration—not least of which is an upcoming curatorial project organized by TRU member Sajdeep Soomal at Trinity Square Video on Mad Building Syndrome. With programming starting early in the new year, keep an eye out for the exhibition and related events.
