We are thrilled to announce that TRU member Nicole Charles is now Assistant Professor of Women and Gender Studies in the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga, with a graduate appointment in the Women & Gender Studies Institute at the St. George campus. Professor Charles’s research engages transnational feminism, Caribbean studies and science and technology studies with an emphasis on cultures of biomedicine, health, and the politics of race and biotechnologies. Her forthcoming book manuscript examines the (post)colonial, transnational and affective politics behind the promotion and refusal of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in Barbados.
