Job Description: TRU Program Assistant
The Technoscience Research Unit (TRU) at the University of Toronto is searching for a program assistant who will work in close collaboration with the Director and TRU members. The TRU is a cross-faculty hub for critical and creative research on the politics of technoscience. The TRU is affiliated with the Faculty of Information, the Faculty of Arts and Science, and the Women and Gender Studies Institute. The TRU draws together social justice approaches to Science and Technology Studies, with particular strengths in research on environmental justice, decolonial and feminist STS, and data politics. The TRU also co-organizes the Technoscience Salon. Please visit the TRU website for an overview of our projects. Working closely with the Director, the person filling this position will:
Organize meetings, events, and conferences
Build community across the university and the city
Manage the TRU budget
Assist in Grant Writing
Assist in TRU publications
Provide organizational support to TRU projects
Manage Website and Social Media
We are looking for applicants with strong organizational skills, experience in collaborative work, and event planning. Experience and interest in STS, media studies, civic tech, social justice organizing, feminist decolonial research, or a related field are an asset.
The program assistant will work approximately 10 hours a week, starting as soon as they are hired through Sept. 1rst, 2017, with a possibility of renewal. Salary is $35/hour plus 4% vacation.
